A moat of red, lives spent and gone
Poppies salute in the midday sun.
Standing proud and full of life
Remembering those who died in strife.
Voices whisper in their midst
Of loved ones wanting to be kissed.
Not forgotten life must go on
They are the rock that we stand on.
Looking down from heavenly heights
Faces warm to such a sight.
Red tells of deeds of men who fought
That they should live again in thought.
A calmness now the red must go
To spread the word to friend and foe.
Poppies tell of peace at last
And remind us yearly of our past.
