Poems and Odes are more popular today
Than ever they’ve been in the past
’cos with your friendly computer for company
You can write down your thoughts really fast
Not like the days on the paper you’d scrawl
With a handy pencil or pen
And then get out your Erasor
And start all over again
It’s easier to write and edit, if you must
There is much more time to think
Of a stimulating subject
That will take you to the brink
Of that vast vocabulary of words
Ever constant on your mind
Eager to spill out on to the screen
When a suitable subject you find
And you don’t have to come to a conclusion
But “save as” till the next time you right
Whether today or tomorrow
Or even next Saturday night
Where in the interim period
The subject in your mind you will muse
On how your poem you will finish
What final line will you use
For the Start and Finale are important
Whether you joke or taunt ,sometimes tease
The ultimate aim of a writer
To hope their compositions will please
Those who find reading a pleasure
Scanning Poems and Odes in rhyme
And if a line or a verse brings a smile to a face
It’s worth writing perhaps one more time .
