The Battle of Britain (And The Blitz)

A swarm of bombers
Filled the azure sky.
The drone of hundreds
Caused the boys and girls to cry.
They knew that they would
Go through hell
And have horrific tales to tell.
As the Nazis crossed the English shore
They were followed
By more and more.
The A.A. gunners kept their cool
As they fired and fired
And did their bit
And aimed their guns at targets
Until they got a hit.
At night the sirens wailed
The searchlights shone so bright
And the gunners fired again
Day after day, night after night,
Week after week and
Month after month
As they saved their people
From death and pain.
The final victory did ensure
We would speak English evermore.
