Grim Reaper

Lying broken on perilous mountain ledge
Turning eyes to Heaven, made a solemn pledge
Never more let mine eyes weep or my heart break
Neither shall I yearn for adventure’s own sake

Brooding evil caused my wandering of mind
So destroying this love of no other kind
Oh mountain, guilty of many countless deaths
I forgive thee now, here with my dying breath

Long adventurous have I been; brash and bold
Darkness falls and with it comes the fatal cold
The Grim Reapers call is loud for me once more
And now I knock at the Heavens marbled door

The snow falls aground, thick, crisp and very deep
I close eyes and gently take my final sleep.
