Carve my name upon my stone

As I landed in the desert, oh what a dreadful sight
There was bodies all around me, I wet my pants with fright,
My captain said go forward son, but keep your head down low,
Just then a bullet pierced my helmet I guess I was too slow,

And as I laid in the desert dust so cold and all alone
I am going to die in this desert dust a thousand miles from home
And when they take my body to its final resting place,
Please carve my name upon my stone and give it pride of place
