Keeping a Balance

To sit in their kitchens while drinking their tea
Is where it is natural for women to be.
Shopping and cooking and washing and ironing
Are tasks for which women are naturally pining.
They shouldn’t have jobs and they shouldn’t go clubbing;
They should be hoovering, dusting and scrubbing.
They should be home looking after the kids
While men are at work, just like my parents did.
If men only worked they would have full employment;
Their women would stay at home for their enjoyment
And we’d have a stable society again
Where women are women and men can be men.
And before all you women proclaim me a freak,
I’ve written this poem a bit tongue in cheek.
I won’t go as far as to say it’s a joke,
But I don’t want you thinking I’m not a nice bloke.
