SUN BLESSED

Hot and humid is the day
The breeze a gentle thing
It saps the energy of some
And birds refuse to sing

A tweet from passing sparrows
A croak from an old crow
They fly to shelter in the trees
‘Til stronger breezes blow

Midges in their thousands
Fly ’round the garden pond
Whilst butterflies and lacewings
Rest quietly on a frond

Lazily a seagull
Circles way up high
Just a single touch of white
In a cloudless azure sky

Beneath a shady parasol
I sit, not very keen,
To wrench myself away from, this
Idyllic summer scene
