October’s nearly over
The wind is swift and chill
It scatters showery rainclouds
And leaves that once were still
How could this summer fly by
With hardly any sun?
What happened to the barbies
Where we would have some fun?
The rain was ever-present
And sunny days were few
The skies were dark and sullen
With just a glimpse of blue
Now suddenly it’s Autumn
And winter’s closing fast
The wind we thought as chilly
Portends an icy blast
October sends out warnings
Of harder times for all
So shrug off thoughts of summer
And heed her timely call
