AUTUMN CHILL

by | Sep 25, 2014 | Poetry | 0 comments

I dread the thought of Autumn’s chill
The darkening skies that finally will
Bring winter’s cold and bitter days

I stand in awe of Autumn leaves
And mellow light on glorious trees
Or early morning mist and haze

It’s just that I can never face
Those spider webs of frozen lace
Caught by the sun’s low morning rays

Yes Autumn’s hint of what’s to come
Those icy roads (and drifts for some)
That makes us suffer long delays

So spare me Autumn’s golden glow
And I will find somewhere to go
With sunny beach, where I can laze
