For I Have Sinned

They tell me that I have sinned
A mortal sin at that
For loving her I will suffer
Forever in my mind
Madness will be my curse
All for loving her.

The religion of the damned
Gave me a light to see
That heaven was just a step away
From the burning fields of France
Where I fought a holy war
Along with Joan of Arc.

Oh, how we smiled
As we watched her burn
Such joy in her eyes
The purity of the flames
Cleansing her sins forever
Her soul forever free.

But for loving her
I am condemned
To the purity of the past
No knowledge of this world
And hell awaits on earth
For those who dare to sin
Against the religion of the damned.
