Hideaway farm

Here in the heart of the countryside
Tranquility serene
Everywhere you cast your eyes
Another idyllic scene
The Sun it throws it’s radiant glow
Across the hills on high
And sunbeams cover the verdant pastures,
Set in the valleys down below
Away in the distance a Hamlet or farm
Snuggled nicely amongst the trees
The perfect handmade subject
For an eager Artist to please
Where he’d sit on a stool by his easel
And scan the landscape with pleasure
Showing in his eyes, as his brushes
Cross the canvas at leisure
Creating yet another masterpiece
To hang in a gilded frame
Another memento of the Cotswolds perhaps
There are never two the same
As beauty is in the eye of the beholder
And though it may sound strange
Might well be the very reason
Why Art has such a great range
Some may look at the foreground
And write of the flowers they spy
Then others will start with the sheep in the field
Or the rabbits or the birds in the sky
Others have a talent for colour
With the pastels and vibrants of green
To give life to the meadows and hedges
Maybe the trees in the distance are seen
As the focal point on the horizon
Scanned with their critical eyes
And turn once more to the road beyond
As the sky darkens and the sun sets and dies
