IT’S FREEZING

What a nightmare its freezing
The wind is breezing
It really is freezing

I stand in my trench
With my teeth clenched
I look out through the forest
No movement or sound
All the animals have gone underground

I am issued a green parka
With no buttons or zip
My cold weather gear
Couldn’t keep out the nip

It’s freezing and cold
And I shiver and clatter
To f****** cold to have a natter
It’s minus 15
Definitely the coldest that I have ever been

A brew is in order hot and sweet
Oh my god I can’t feel my feet
I pull out my 58 sleeping bag
I feel so sad
There are no feathers to be had
These sleeping bags are so bad

So when you are at home at night
And in your bed
The duvet pulled up around your head
Think of the poor squaddie
In his hole in the ground
Shaking and reeling
Because it is freezing
