I heard a new term today, “fiscal consolidation.”
Impressive, like when I heard, “lateral communication.”
I heard it on this morning’s news while watching BBC.
It came from an economist; worked for Lloyds TSB.
He came across as confident, a really learned chap
And I suppose that’s why he’s authorised to spout this crap.
I don’t know what it means and I don’t think that I care.
It’s got to do with money they say is no longer there.
They have to strike a balance between prices, work and wages,
But each successive government’s been saying this for ages.
All I know is that I’m paying more for what I buy
And that is how it’s going to be until the day I die.
I’m sure that I’ve been ripped off since the days of Margaret Thatcher
And I’d hit her with her handbag if I ever got to catch her.
