Statuesque fountain

Walking in the Stately Gardens
Relaxation was my aim
I wondered who on earth lived here
What was their claim to fame
Maybe they inherited it
But own it just the same
A leisurely walk in the afternoon
Enjoying the Summer air
And came across this Idyllic scene
Free of trouble and care
The centrepiece was a statuesque fountain
Streams of water rose high and wide
Surrounded by trees and reeds and foliage
As though the pool was trying to hide
But the sunbeams had managed to creep though the trees
Giving leaves a golden hue
Casting it’s light on the water cascading
Creating a startling view
Now I have noticed the huge tree standing there
Like a guardian over this beautiful scene
And from it’s size it clearly indicates
How many years this has been
A place of sanctuary for all to come
To enjoy tranquillity and peace serene
Before journeying on to further explore
What more of Natures wonders abound
Hidden here in the English countryside
Waiting to be found.
