“Stay Thy Quill”

by | Feb 17, 2012 | Poetry | 0 comments

Should you perchance to call on me, shout loud
For I may turn a ‘deaf un’ to your plea
Although one day I wish to grace a cloud
Defenestration’s no way out for me
I’ve come through trials and such like this before
A second chance you did once deem my way
Since then I’ve lived my life for you, what’s more
Through verse alone I’ve had so much to say
You hither for me come, I must depart
To stay my quill, no scripted prose to seek
Yet rhyme doth flow in torrent from my heart
To leave me now, bereft and feeling weak
I shape the words of love and breathe my last
A Poet’s gift from day the die was cast
