When you’re alone and in despair…

Yet, when the book of life is read
There is nothing written in there
To say that when all is done and said…
That life has to be fair.

It cannot be that you and me
Can always be happy… it’s rare
That on everything people agree…
And that everything is fair.

So, don’t rely on luck or fate,
Or commit chance to a prayer…
But strive to love and not to hate
