From the Ground

Plucked from the dampened field
Night melts into dawn
Butter melting in the pan
A bruise of garlic
Aroma rises
Mushrooms fry
Earth!

Bellissimo

Tomatoes prised from the vine
Warmed by the Tuscan sun
Fresh leaves of deep green basil
Finger torn and scattered
A perfect marriage
Olive oil
Drenched!

Comfort

Steel cold metal implement
Hand held plunges deep
Through crisp, hot, sweetened crumble
Sharpness of apple
Yielding passively
In rich cream
Bliss!

Jaffa Cake

Floating on a soft light sponge
Tangy orange spread
Secretly hidden within
Thin, dark chocolate
Bite through to reveal
Its treasure
Rich!
