Ghostly Soldier

The haunting battlefield where the poppies grow
Stands a ghostly soldier we all should know
Standing tall still and fast
Remembering his painful bloody past
Slowly, slowly he drops to his knees
He whispers a prayer into the breeze
Fellow soldiers that fought by his side
He remembers them all with loyal pride
Sending prayers up to heaven above
For all the men we know and love
The ghosts of the battlefield left to roam
The soldier that fell and didn’t go home
Who is this soldier we all should know
A friend, a brother but never a foe
He stands in the bare battlefield, a haunting sight
Where brave men stood and had to fight
