Remember me

Remember me…now I am gone from here…
Now my mortality has ebbed away.
When I can no more weep, nor fret and fear…
Nor yield to cruel despair…nor rue the day
When evil had its spiteful visage shown…
And inhumanity had cast its sin.
When fair faith and gracious hope from life had flown,
And the cold encumbering earth held me within…

Within a darkened tomb of the foulest soil…
The rotted remnants of lives forlornly cast.
Now I am rid of bitter mortal toil…
And earthly pain and sorrow have now passed.
Remember me…for I did not depart
Completely lost of all your goodly care.
For I have left my seal upon your heart…
Yes! I have left some part of me in there.

Death despoils life’s form, it does not end
The essential ardour of the living soul.
Thus, death exists then simply to transcend
The essence of one’s being from part to whole.
My hands reached for the sky and shaped above
The way of kindness and civility…
And with sweet scented blooms festooned with love…
Besprent the world with fond humanity.

As lucent as the moon anoints the night…
As fulgent as the sun engilds the sky…
Then my memory should not be put to flight…
For my endless spirit yet shall never die.
As once my living breath imbued the air
You breathe…with sweetness and passion sublime.
Then…breathe of me still…and that inspiration share
With others blessed…in the fullness of all time.
