Shining boots

Shining Boots to match Sailors Suits
Lonnie called them Daisy Roots
In the airing room, hours we’d spend
Enough to send you round the bend
Hours spent with yellow duster
Spit and polish so we’d pass muster
Toecaps gleaming till they shone
Or round the parade ground we’d be gone
Some lads crafty in the night
Working on in candle light
Working quietly heating spoon
Toe caps shining like the moon
Years have rolled bye I have to say
Now It’s all put on with spray
