So here I am

So here I am, in the company of myself,
Thought that’s the way it would be,
Alone on the shelf.

But life was transformed,
By a meeting of chance,
We met at a youth club,
I asked you to dance.

I looked in your eyes,
Saw something so good,
I would spend much more time with you,
If only I could.

As time grew on,
We walked more and more,
Hand in hand,
Until back to your door.

Then there would be,
Time the next day,
To take a few moments,
What I wanted to say.

Eventually asking,
The question in life,
That transforms,
A girlfriend,
Into a wife.
