THE BIG QUESTION

As you lie in your bed
Breathing your last
You have to ask the question
What is it all about?

Am I loved?
Am I adored?
Did I do the right thing?
By you my wife
And you my children

When I walked through those gates
Onto the streets of hell
Did I really make any difference?
Did I hell

Does the hand of friendship
Really do the business
That warming smile
Followed up by the hard targeting

As I come to the end
Was I really liked?
I remember so fondly
Teaching my son to ride his bike

That is the big question
We must all ask
Is your heart pure?
And your conscious clear
I have loved you so much my dear

So many questions
So little time
But this much I know
It really is time to go
Goodnight
