Truths

Truths were what I wanted
Lies are what you told
You lied, thinking I’d never find out
You were pretty bold

Now I know the truths, I think
They’re just what you said in reverse
From your cup of love I did drink
Now I’m living with this curse

The curse of not knowing right from wrong
From a lie and then a truth
Oh, I just must remain strong
Though you’ve taken away my youth

Now I must spend my teen years
Recalling what you’ve done
I don’t trust my peers
I surrender …. you’ve won.
