Stopped in my tracks;
As if I’d walked into a brick wall
Because I didn’t notice it was there.

Struck down;
The way a charging bull elephant
Is brought down by the hunter’s bullet;
Reduced to a heaving grey mass
Among the dust.

“The irresistible force meets the immovable object”

and the earth shattering cause
of this cataclysmic immobility?

I’d just noticed your scent on my scarf;
Still strong, even after a couple of days.

And I drowned in the joy of it.
